Who are we?

The Highland Warriors are thirteen year old guild, which is an achievement in itself - almost as old as the Hills(brad) ;) We’d likely describe ourselves as a casual raiding guild, but this doesn’t really do us justice – we’re not just about raiding and we’re more than the sum of our raiding parts.

The Highland Warriors are a friendly community of like-minded players, over the age of 18 - some just about, but most a significant amount of time since. We’re an old fashioned guild with old fashioned values. We believe that members of the guild should be able to rely on each other, no matter what your personal play preference, for raids; for mythics; for levelling; for achievement hunting; for the daily grind of World Quests and rep gains. To us, being in a guild is about sharing the experiences of this World of Warcraft together.

We have a number of guildies who have played since Vanilla, we have Burning Crusaders and Wrath Babies - a wealth of experience, knowledge and a stable core who have “grown up” within Warcraft. Our community is everything, and this is why we have been around so long.

We've begun our assault on Uldir and after a full normal clear, we've progressed to heroic.

We will still continue to farm normal for those upgrades here and there, whilst pushing for HC progress. So whatever your previous raiding experience, you'll be able to get in at the beginning.

At this point, it's probably a good idea to add that we also don’t use voice comms for raids: we do have a discord server (and the in-game voice comms), which some of our members use, but raids are not run through it. So whether you like the heavy breathing of mics, and the savaging of Fnny, Kint & Kaos or prefer the gentle tap of keys, there is an option to suit all :)

Not Raiding

When we're not seeking vengeance on the denizens of our current raiding tier, we mythic; we heroic; we world quest; some pvp; some achievement farm; some level their 874586th alt /coughSIFcough... Me, I just spend obscene amounts of money at the hairdressers to match the outfit of the week. Whatever you're into, there's someone to share your passion with, to help you and to spend time with in this crazy world we call home.

What we’re looking for

If you can keep up your HoTs when all about you
Are losing health and blaming it on you,
If you can taunt a boss when all men doubt you,
But make allowance for their doubting too;
If you can wait and not be tired by waiting,
Or being lied about, don’t deal in lies,
Or being hated, don’t give way to hating,
And yet don’t look too good, nor talk too wise:

If you can dream — and not make dreams your master;
If you can raid — and not make loot your aim;
If you can meet with Triumph and Disaster
And treat those two impostors just the same;
If you can bear to hear the truth you’ve spoken
Trolled in /General to make a trap for fools,
Or watch the gear you gave your life to, broken,
And stoop and fix ’em up with worn-out anvil:

If you can make one heap of all your winnings
And risk it on one turn of end game boss,
And lose, and start again at your beginnings
And never breathe a word about your loss;
If you can force your armour and cooldowns and trinkets
To serve your turn long after they are gone,
And so hold on when there is nothing in you
Except when Windavell calls break with: ‘Hold on!’

If you can talk in guild and general and keep your virtue,
Or walk with Titans — nor lose the common touch,
If neither trash nor loving guildies can hurt you,
If all raiders count with you, but none too much;
If you can fill the unforgiving minute
With sixty seconds’ worth of awesome DPS,
Yours is Azeroth and everything that’s in it,
And — which is more — you’ll be a Highland Warrior, my friend!

Currently, we are looking for... well, everything: raiders, socials, heroic and mythic+ dungeoneers, newbies, oldies, rerollers, horde defectors... Heroes :)

We're preparing for the Battle for Azeroth and we need you!

Re: Recruitment news & Application Form

Frequently Asked Questions

Q: How long does it take to answer applications?

A: It often varies, although the usual time is about 1 week. However, sometimes it may be faster or slower depending on how busy Elysah, the Recruitment Officer is. On the rare occasions she is unavailable, the Guild Master, Windavell, will contact you instead.

Poor two-line applications, or applications which do not follow our template, are not deleted: but they are encouraged to submit their application in the proper format within the next few days. We never delete applications as they can be used by other applicants as examples of what may or may not make a successful application.

Complete applications are considered weekly and may take longer to reach a decision on. Please don't think that doesn't mean we are not interested, this can be due to current trials or lack of spots for that specific class.

Q: I hate how my guild is doing nowadays, could you give me some information about how my application is looking?

A: We don't rush into application decisions. If you are in a rush to get into a new guild and we are taking too long to answer, you are free to either wait for our answer or join a new guild. However, we would appreciate it if you could inform us of this, either by in-game mail, forum mail or by deleting your application.

Q: My class isn't listed on the classes you are recruiting, is it worth me applying?

A: We are always open to applications. If you think you would be a good fit for our guild, feel free to apply: we're open to all applicants if you have the right attitude. It just might mean you raid in your OS, if you are a healer or a tank, until a spot becomes available. Existing members of the guild will always have first refusal should a healer or tank spot open up, and their main has one of those roles as MS.

Q: Why is my application handled through the forum and not ingame?

A: Over the years, we've had hundreds of applications and we consider each player carefully against our criteria of what we look for in guildie. We value fairness and honesty and the forum allows us to assess openly. In using the forum, everyone is clear from the start about what is expected - from both the guild and the applicant - along with anything else which may have been agreed.

We believe that its important that everyone in the guild has the opportunity to see who is applying - Azeroth can be a very small world and you may have already encountered one of our number in the past and made an impression.

Furthermore, it frees up online time for the fun parts! We want to enjoy adventuring with our friends, play time is important to us all. However, if you pass that first part of the screening process you will be invited to an ingame chat. This is really just a bit of chit chat to get to know us (or at least, our public face of the guild, the Recruitment Officer) and us to get to know you. Also, this will give the opportunity for you to ask any questions about how things work around here.

If you are invited to an ingame chat, please try to be as specific as possible about your online time within the time period suggested. It will make the application process go a lot faster.

Q: Why must I move all my alts into the guild?

A: This guild has been around on Thunderhorn since Vanilla: we're 13 years old and counting. We're a successful guild because of community and the team ethos that it promotes. Playing alts under the same banner as your main means you get to know your fellow guildies and build good relationships with them - death and fortune are good for friendships :)

If you have any other questions regarding your application, then please contact the Recruitment Officer, Elysah, or Guild Master, Windavell

If neither of them are available, type /who Highland Warriors and ask a guildie for information :)

Application Form

Please complete the following template to the best of your ability and, most of all, be honest about yourself and what you are looking for. Use your main character, and list all alts. If you are a lower level player, delete all that is not relevant, but please try to tell us more about who you are and what you are hoping for as you level

Please label the SUBJECT BOX with the name of your main character and class, along with RAIDER or SOCIAL. This then needs to be posted as a NEW TOPIC, in this section of the forum.

Please be aware that all applications are public

Which of the following days each week are you available?

Wednesday 21:00 CET until 23.30
Sunday 21:00 CET until 23.30

What is your greatest achievement in a raid situation?

Do you have any aspirations to become a Raid Leader? And if so, why?

Other Stuff

Do you know an existing member of the Highland Warriors? If so, who: for how long, and how do you know them?

Why do you want to join the Highland Warriors? Things other applicants have included here include, what was it about the Highland Warriors which made us stand out from the hundreds of other guilds recruiting? Have you been aware of the guild prior to applying? Did someone recommend you join us? Did you group with a member of our guild and become enchanted by what a wonderful person they are?

Anything extra you would like to tell us about yourself? You may wish to talk about when you started Warcraft, any previous main characters, any interesting life events or details you would like to share with the guild to find similar interests with our members

Finally, as you should always end on a laugh, tell us your best joke... ;)
