Play Style

What sort of position would suit you best in terms of what you are looking for from a guild (delete as appropriate)

Core Raider: I must raid 2 times a week, at least

With coming of Warlords of Draenor I would like to get back to regular raiding again.

Which of the following days each week are you available? Please see the top post for details of our current raid days.

Monday 21:00 CET until 23.30
Tuesday 21:00 CET until 23.30
Wednesday 21:00 CET until 23.30
Thursday 21:00 CET until 23.30
Friday 21:00 CET until 00:00
Saturday 20:30 CET until 00:00
Sunday 20:30 CET until 23.30

I have free evenings whole week. My next semester begins in the middle of February, so this might change, but such occurence is improbable. I rarely get home from school after 20:00 CET

Why did you chose your current spec?

Easy question, you are recruiting ranged dps and you have lack of elemental shaman. That is why I chose this one. And because I have never played elemental shaman before. And shaman are awesome. And it has cool mastery proc. To think I almost lvled up prot/fury warrior…

Tell us a little about your spell/shot/melee rotation & general play style in a raid/dungeon/group situation. (You may link stats websites such as WoL in support of your application)

As I am dps, I follow the tank/leader. I take good care not to pull anything as that is tank’s job and I take good care not to over-aggro mobs who were just pulled. In combat, my goal is to maintain my rotation but not at expense of fight mechanics or group’s well being. Cannot dps if dead. That requires my knowledge of encounter and proper tactic to overcome it. As shaman I have some of the most powerful utility in the game I can use to help the group. Be it various totems to make encounter easier (tremor or windwalk totems), one of the few decursing abilities in the game, purge, hex, or simply glorious bloodlust/heroism to be popped at leader’s demand (do not trust mages, their time warp causes time cancer). With recent changes to healing I also found in random dungeons that one poor healing surge when healer is seriously falling behind can save the day.

As for rotation - I am relatively new to elemental spec but I studied noxxic and Icy-veins guides to get a grip on it. I keep up my searing totem for extra damage. I use unleash flame on cooldown to empower my spells, especially flame shock that I keep applied to target. Lava burst is to be kept at cooldown but I have to be at lookout for its synergy with flame shock as that resets it. Lightning bolt serves as filler spell but together with lava burst builds fulmination charges of my lighning shield. When the charges are nearing maximum I discharge them with one powerful earth shock. I have to be careful with timing as earth shock shares cooldown with flame shock.

If there are more enemies I hit them with chain lightning and shake their world with empowered earthquake. Then I can focus on priority target or just spam chain lightning.

For burst damage I have Acendance and fire elemental totem (and earth elemental totem but that is not much of a burst). My defensive cooldowns consist of two flat reductions in form of astral shift and shamanistic rage recently stolen from enhancement shaman. In case I need to move I can use spiritwalker’s grace that allows me to cast while on the move. Don’t stand in fire. Fire bad.

Choose THREE of the following which best describes your usual WOW week. Delete those which do NOT apply
I think this is pretty much what I was doing the past several weeks since the release.
- Looking for group instances
- Spamming Looking for Raid
- Solo questing

Which of your achievements in WoW are you the most proud of, and why? *This does not have to be a recognised Blizzard acheivement - it could just be the slog of levelling from 1 - 85, or looting an item you have farmed for a long time*

The most satisfaction I ever had in WoW was when I trained for few years and then I went back and kicked Al’akir’s ass. He destroyed our raid group. We were wiping few weeks, falling apart with each raid night, every new week harder then the last one as we had to fill in with random people. He deserved it. Prick.

Other Stuff

Do you know an existing member of the Highland Warriors? If so, who: for how long, and how do you know them?

Warudakumi – I know him for several years, we met IRL during Warhammer FB game and he was one of the people who convinced me to join the ranks of wow players. He also used to be my raid leader. We still run dungeons together.
Eillena – Originaly friend of friend whom I have met once or twice. Last year he joined our little Argent Dawn project and we have been running dungeons together ever since.

Why do you want to join the Highland Warriors?

I followed my friends here. And I want to have a chance at raiding again.

How will you improve yourself as a Highland Warrior?

I want to become better at this caster kind of playstyle. While I played several casters before, I am still more comfortable with melees. I discover new mechanics every day. Did you know that some abilities in some dungeons prefer to target ranged dps? I swear I have never been to Auchindoun without being the only one chased by that bloody abyssal.

Anything extra you would like to tell us about yourself?

I am IT/economy student with interests including computer games, digital art, writing. I am also big fan of Warhammer, both fantasy and 40k, even though I do not play very often anymore, I still spend a lot of time with painting the minis. But who cares about this stuff. Let’s talk about me and WoW.

I started playing several years ago on private servers, during the times of Wrath of the Lich King. While most of the servers were broken, I managed to find one with really dedicated dev team, who put together working raids (OS, Malygos, Naxx). After several months of raiding as unholy DK I got persuaded by several friends that I should try the real deal.

I started to play on official servers in days of early Cataclysm. I rolled enhancement shaman and I joined my friends in raid group Wipers (part of Chrocht guild) and under the leadership of Slacklear the Light of Dawn (you might know him as Warudakumi) we managed to clean Bastion of Twilight and most of Blackwing Descent when it was current content. Sadly following disastrous progres on Al’akir, our group fell apart. I joined another group in the guild and cleared Blackwing Descent. That group fell apart also when the Firelands came out. When Dragon Soul came out, I decided to leave WoW and spend time going through my ever growing Steam library.

Just before the Mists came out, I came back, lulled by Slacklear the Light of Dawn’s promise of resurrection of Wipers. We managed to clear first 4 bosses of Mogu’shan Vaults and fell apart again. The rest of expansion I spent by lvling alts, farming world bosses and running LFR. When the flex difficulty was introduced and guild started taking poor schmucks like me for a spin, I joined. While the raiding was fun, it was nowhere near as much fun as was raiding with friends. Then someone came with an idea (Slacklear the Light of Dawn or someone similar) to switch sides, to lvl up some aliance toons, run dungeons and have a good time.

We moved to Argent Dawn EU, mostly people who know each other in real life. Friends invited friends and our numbers grew. There were talks about getting just few more people to assemble a raid team. Sadly, most of us got end-of-expansion blues, some did not have enough time, some never showed up again. When WoD came out, some had other priorities, like your member Eillena, and with the rocky start, we were left with just few loyals. Unable to raid, Slacklear the Light of Dawn transfered his priest and started to raid with you.

And I followed, I leveled up my new main on Wildhammer (sadly Thunderhorn is full of alts), with intention to give all for chance to raid again.

Hi Lphans

A very nice app :-)

You do have a fair number of alts which look like they are mostly on the horde side. I was just wondering what are your plans with them. Although we wouldn't want you to transfer them to alliance as the cost involved for that many characters would be ridiculous we do expect that the majority of your time be in guild.

Hello

As I wrote earlier, my alts served as distraction during Mists of Pandaria. When WoD came out and the queues were enforced, I was unable to play on completely full Argent Dawn EU, so I lvled up my horde shaman on Thunderhorn EU. To complement this, I got few characters to their own garrisons to get a start at professions. When the queues ended, I returned to Argent Dawn EU and my DK there became my focus, as there was prospect of playing with friends. With the prospect gone, my main focus is this shaman at Wildhammer EU.

I log my horde shaman once in a while to click some garrison missions but I rarely leave garrison (it is nice sight to see 8-10 completed missions to pop up, showering me in goodies, brings me strange serenity). I ran Highmaul LFR once or twice with him, to take a look at this new instance, but now I have no need as I have new main shaman who can do that aswell.
I log my engineer rogue when I am in desperate need of blingtron.
I used to log my DK to run cross-realm dungeons with friends, but now when I have this shaman on Wildhammer EU, there is no need to use DK.
All other alts can rot in hell.
And if I ever feel the need to tank, I can lvl up my warrior at Wildhammer EU.

That sounds good to me.

Just to let you know with Xmas being over our numbers might swell to 30 plus in the raiding pool, which means that people might have to miss out on raids, i notice on your app you selected that "I must raid 2 times a week, at least" how do you feel about sitting out on a raid here and there?

Not sure if you have been told by Waru or Eill but we do sign up on a first sign first in way.

We used to have 12-13 people in 10 man group. Sitting on a bench once in a while is understandable and I have no problem with that.
