[Trial] Wugdar - Shadow priest - Raider

Postby Wugdar » 07 Nov 2014, 11:29

About You

Age: 43

Gender: Male

Country & Region: The Netherlands

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Your Character

Character Name Please include all details of name, race and server changes: failure to do so will lead to your application being declined: Wugdar, human priest on Thunderhorn (Always been on TH)

Level: 90

Class: Priest

Spec: Shadow / Shadow

Played Time: 309 days on my main

Achievement Points: 15015

Is this your main character? Yes

Alts Please list ALL alts regardless of level, including name, race, class, level and guild:

I play almost exclusively on my main character. The only reason I have alts (and very rarely play them) is for some achievements that can’t be achieved on my main character (like double agent) or to briefly find out what a class is about. All my alts are on Thunderhorn.

Reading other applications it seems that your main question is if I am willing to put all my alts in the guild. For my alliance alts that will be no problem, but as you can probably imagine I will not be paying to move my horde characters over since I do not play them actively. 95% of my time is spend on my priest.

Alliance side:
  • Wuggi level 90 worgen druid
  • Wugs level 65 night elf rogue
  • Wug level 61 blood elf death knight
  • Wugg level 17 pandaren monk

Horde side:
  • Wagdur level 90 blood elf hunter
  • Wogdar level 90 tauren paladin
  • Wigdar level 73 troll mage
  • Wiggi level 62 troll warrior
  • Wagdar level 34 undead rogue
  • Wygdar level 9 orc warlock

Previous guilds: Please list all the guilds you have been a member of, you may wish use http://www.warcraftrealms.com/charhistory.php as a starting point, especially where there have been name, faction and realm changes. We will check this, don't leave anything out or it reflects negatively on your application

  • I started out on horde side. My first ever guild was the Blood Blades.
  • Left after a few months to start a guild with my brother called Death Angels. Been guildleader there for most of the time.
  • Left a few months before TBC to join Kink because I wanted to raid and got tired of the endless struggle to get raiding going in Death Angels.
  • When TBC started most of Kink used the free realm migration option and I didn’t want to leave Thunderhorn. Tried a new guild from a friend (Icecrown Guard) but that collapsed after a few weeks.
  • Joined The Shadow Rising. Was raidleader of TDT Coalition raiding we had going through TBC and most of WotLK. Left shortly before Cataclysm because there was a nasty power struggle going on after I quit as raidleader due to not having the time for it anymore. The bitching and moaning seriously drained my fun in playing.
  • Joined Left Hand Path but left when all of a sudden there was a guild merge with most of the members from TDT Coalition which was a solo act from the officers that was never even communicated/asked with the members of LHP which didn’t sit well with me.
  • Joined GCHQ for a few months but left because raiding was getting impossible as more and more people left.
  • Moved over to Alliance because the horde numbers were dropping and dropping and wanted to try something new. Joined Evolved to raid again, but left quickly because the guild management was made up of total idiots.
  • Joined Wolfgrowls Company which was my last home until I quit early this year. I’ve been (understandably) kicked due to inactivity and most of the people I played with in WGC have left the game or realm, which is why I am looking for a new home now.

Professions
Please include details of levels and specialism, where appropriate.

Primary 1: 600
Primary 2: 600

First Aid: 600
Cooking: 600
List any special or rare recipes: None that I am aware of being special

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Raiding Experience
Please list your progression and experience of the following raid instances, and indicate if your experience is predominently guild or PuG, along with 10/25 man, LFR or heroic experience:
MoP: Mogu'shan Vaults: cleared on Normal
MoP: Heart of Fear: 3/6 on Normal, cleared on LFR
MoP: Terrace of Endless Spring: cleared only on LFR
MoP: Throne of Thunder: cleared only on LFR
MoP: Siege of Ogrimmar: cleared only on LFR

Do you have any aspirations to become a Raid Leader? Please list any relevant previous experience

Probably not, but you never know what happens in the future. I’ve been raidleader for a few years but the amount of time needed for it will probably keep me from doing it again. I’ve also read that you don’t use voice communication for raiding and that would be a problem for me if I were to lead as my typing is way too slow to effectively lead a group. As a raider I have no problem with no voice communication though.

Play Style

What sort of position would suit you best in terms of what you are looking for from a guild (delete as appropriate)

I will most likely want to raid as that is what I enjoy doing the most. Whether or not I would be a core raider or flexible raider is something I will have to see. It depends a bit on time I have, because I would only go for core raider if I have the time for it. But for now I will enjoy levelling and instancing first with the new expansion.

Which of the following days each week are you available? Please see the top post for details of our current raid days.

I have no fixed appointments which cause me to not be able to play so I’m available all evenings and weekends in general, but work or social events sometimes interfere off course.

Why did you chose your current spec?

I have played as a healer for most of my WOW days (like 7 years or so) but at some point I really got fed up with that, so around the introduction of MoP I decided to try shadow for a change and never looked back. Right now I only enjoy playing as DPS and have no intention to go healing again. If I would be considered for a raid spot it would be as DPS only. I never created a pure DPS class (to avoid the inevitable ‘can you heal’ questions) because I couldn’t abandon my beloved priest.

Tell us a little about your spell/shot/melee rotation & general play style in a raid/dungeon/group situation. (You may link stats websites such as WoL in support of your application)

I just re-activated my account yesterday evening, so the talents I have now are sort of randomly slapped on. I was too busy with getting everything set up again to have the time to study the new mechanics. I also have no idea yet on spell rotations etc. changes but will read up and experiment in the days to come to master my skills again. I am not the king of DPS but in the past I’ve never held a group back with lack of DPS. I could usually be found in the top half of DPS charts and although I always try to improve myself, in the end not holding a group back is good enough for me.

Choose THREE of the following which best describes your usual WOW week. Delete those which do NOT apply

- Inguild only group instancing
- Solo questing
- Achievements

I like to do different things a lot. Sometimes I can enjoy all day doing things on my own. At such times I am fully focussed on what I am doing and sometimes don’t even notice guild chat. Other times I enjoy instancing or doing old raids with people from the guild a lot and sometimes I stand and have fun in guild chat. The most satisfying and fun thing to do has always been raiding though.

Which of your achievements in WoW are you the most proud of, and why? *This does not have to be a recognised Blizzard acheivement - it could just be the slog of levelling from 1 - 85, or looting an item you have farmed for a long time*

The thing I am most proud of is killing Kael'thas Sunstrider with TDT Coalition when I was raidleader. That boss required everyone to perform at its best, both at a personal level and as a group. When we first encountered him we were so not ready for that and getting the group to perform better step by step was something I will always remember. The feeling when we finally nailed it was intense!

Other Stuff

Do you know an existing member of the Highland Warriors? If so, who: for how long, and how do you know them?

I know Kelthar and Myrelle from my days in The Shadow Rising, although I haven’t had contact with them for a long time.

Why do you want to join the Highland Warriors?

Firstly because you are a very well known ‘old’ guild, which to me says you must be doing something right. You seem to be a guild made up of mature people which is something I wouldn’t want any other way. The fact that you realise that live is about more than WOW is also a big plus.

How will you improve yourself as a Highland Warrior?

I doubt that being in a guild in a computer game will improve myself. Too old for that! I do know that the game is so much more fun when you play with others and getting to know new people is always fun. Raiding in Looking For Raid is also not something I enjoy a lot. As a player I can offer some descent DPS, a lot of experience and some good insight in game mechanics. I’m always up for fun stuff and willing to help people.

Anything extra you would like to tell us about yourself?

I work as a consultant at a web development company. I live with my girlfriend (not playing wow) and my dog (also not playing wow) and enjoy visiting old buildings, reading and watching tv-series outside of playing wow a lot. I hardly play other games.

Hi Wugdar

Very nice app and was a pleasure to read.

You seem to have pre-empted some of my questions, but not all, i always have more questions :-)

Before I go into my question and you probably already know where i will be going with this, and perhaps i am misunderstadning your wording; joining as a ranged DPS is fully understood and to be honest we are always looking for more ranged DPS, however part of the raiding requirements is for the raiders to work on an offspec and keep up in terms of enchantments and gems etc. Since the only other offspec you will have is Healing are you happy to heal if the occasion deems it? Just to give you a current example during Mists (2 years or so) our spriest was asked to heal no more than dozen time, and we do currently have a healthy roster of healers, but you never know. What are your thoughts?

Nephrodeity is rather wonded you didnt include her ;-)

Lastly what are your favourite places to keep up to date with all the latest information rearding your class.

Well I would never want to let a team down, so if it's really really really really needed I could heal for an occasion. I do like to keep my two shadow specs when I can go as DPS though, because being able to switch talents depending on whether the boss has adds or is a single target boss used to help me a lot in maximizing my DPS.

Nightmares wrote:Nephrodeity is rather wonded you didnt include her ;-)

Ooooooh, Neph! Well my only excuse is that your guild roster is so big on the armory. Going through them all would take all day! Sorry though!

It used to be mainly HowToPriest.com, but will have to see if that is still the best source.

Well with how talents are now set up you can change talents before any fight instantly as long as you have one of books to do it, throughout mists this has been one of the good things talent swithcing where needed

True but with switching from primary to secondary talents I got the added bonus of changing actionbars aswell so I had the changing spells in the right place for my keybinds so for example Halo and Mindbinder stayed under the same key. I could also set up some of my addons like WeakAuras to be different depending on primary or secondary being active.

note - when changing talents, the button you have the talented spell on auto changes to the new talent you picked. So theres really no swapping needed at all now.
The only classes that really could use 2 dps specs are pure dps because the stat weights etc change so much they also need double gear for it.

Regarding the raiding side of things. I would rather you healed once in a blue moon, then to cancel a raid. While I do understand some people really dont want to heal/tank incase they get pushed into that role full time, that is not something I would do because it isnt fair.

To be highly certain of something, with a very low order of evidence, or in contradiction to a mountain of evidence, is a sign that something is wrong with your mind.

Agree that it's better to heal then to cancel. Will probably make my second spec as holy then because that suited my playstyle better back in my healing days.
