About You

Age: 48

Gender: Male

Country & Region: UK, London

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Your Character

Character Name: Fallow, Night Elf, currently on Eonar-EU

Level: 90

Class: Druid

Spec: Balance with a Restoration secondary, though at points I've played both Resto and Feral (cat) as main spec

Played Time: 28 days, 14 hours (with a period of inactivity from 2007-2014)

Achievement Points: 2700 (but that's with having been inactive since late 2007 - my main in the US had 10,195 at the point I stopped playing him about a year ago)

Is this your main character? Yes - and indeed he was my first long term character, from not long after the EU launch of the game.

Alts Please list ALL alts regardless of level, including name, race, class, level and guild:

EU Servers:
Dejing; 59 Gnome Monk on Saurfang - Hedgehogs of Bernard guild - my only currently played alt who I'd also be happy to bring across.
Slightly: 50 Gnome Warlock on Eonar (not planning to level further)
Statham: 21 Human Priest on Eonar (not planning to level further)

US Servers:
Arezzo: 90 Tauren Druid on Earthen Ring (Scouts of Kyhdius guild)
Pangol: 90 Tauren Monk on Earthen Ring (Scouts of Kyhdius guild)
Hebrides: 90 Tauren Warrior on Earthen Ring (Scouts of Kyhdius guild)
All currently inactive.

Previous guilds:
Fallow only had one previous guild, Scale Wardens, which he was a member of from May 2006 to February 2007. I was an active member of the guild, which I liked being part of very much, but unfortunately it started to schism as more members hit max level and a hard-core raiding faction took the lead. I didn't see myself as particularly hard-core and the increasingly rigid activity requirements became incompatible with my play style. I left for the unguilded life and shortly afterwards found myself no longer playing in the EU for a protracted period, so he went on hiatus.
Dejing is a member of the Hedgehogs of Bernard guild
Slightly may have been in Scale Wardens, but i can't get up his record.
Statham hasn't been in any guilds.

US:
All three toons started life in alea iacta est but then transferred to the social guild Scouts of Kyhdius to play with real-world friends

Other guilds you are applying for: None

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Professions
Please include details of levels and specialism, where appropriate.

Primary 1: Herbalism 579 (will be 600 within at most a week)
Primary 2: Alchemy 529 (ditto) - Transmutation spec

First Aid:
Cooking: 545
List any special or rare recipes:

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Raiding Experience
Please list your progression and experience of the following raid instances, and indicate if your experience is predominently guild or PuG, along with 10/25 man, LFR or heroic experience:
Apart from a very short period beginning to tank Mogu'shan Vaults on a US server (different character), and LFRing Vaults and the Terrace, also in the US, I have no MoP raiding experience as Fallow only hit 90 a week ago.

Previously, also in the US, I raided through the latter stages of Burning Crusade and progressed through all the Wrath raids before taking a break from the game and returning to the UK.

Do you have any aspirations to become a Raid Leader? Please list any relevant previous experience. Not at the present time - co-led my US raid team (10-person) for Ulduar, ToC and ICC.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Reputation
Number of Reputations @ Exalted: 3 - though again note the over six years inactivity. Arezzo, my US main, obtained the 'the Exalted' title for 40 Exalted reps.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Play Style

What sort of position would suit you best in terms of what you are looking for from a guild (delete as appropriate)

Social: I have no current aspirations to raid - I like raiding, but my work schedule is incompatible with weekday evening raiding. I may be able to flex at the weekend, but pretending I could commit regularly would be unfair to the guild. The social aspect of WoW is the greatest contributing factor to making it the only computer game I've ever played in a seriously long term way and that is what I'm looking to contribute to primarily.

Why did you chose your current spec? Fallow started life as Balance, and coming back to him I wanted to get back to basics. I just dual-specced him Resto to give greater flexibility/utility when playing with my partner.

Tell us a little about your spell/shot/melee rotation & general play style in a raid/dungeon/group situation. (You may link stats websites such as WoL in support of your application)
I'm still getting my head around a level 90 playstyle in Balance. Broadly, my starting point is keeping both DoTs up at all times (and ideally on multiple targets) to maximise opportunities for free Starsurges, and then making use of whichever Eclipse is currently beneficial. The treants I tend to save for big fights. Hurricane/Astral Storm situationally, but I find the channelled and static nature of it is less helpful than other class AOE effects. "Still (re)learning" would be a fair assessment. And I'm still just starting to get properly geared, so I'm far from fully effective yet.

Choose THREE of the following which best describes your usual WOW week. Delete those which do NOT apply

If I was in a guild, they would be:

- Inguild only group instancing
- Social questing with guild mates
- Acheivements

As I'm not currently in a guild, it currently looks like:
- Looking for group instances
- Solo questing
- Acheivements

Which of your achievements in WoW are you the most proud of, and why? *This does not have to be a recognised Blizzard acheivement - it could just be the slog of levelling from 1 - 85, or looting an item you have farmed for a long time*

Either getting the Loremaster and Seeker achievements in their original forms, or working with my group of close friends to work and work and work at progressing through the Northrend raids. The day we first downed Arthas was indescribably satisfying

Other Stuff

Do you know an existing member of the Highland Warriors? If so, who: for how long, and how do you know them?

None at present.

Why do you want to join the Highland Warriors?
I like the sound of the ethos - as I said above I'm not particularly hard-core, though I enjoy the satisfaction of working to achieve the goal. However, I've also got a lot of satisfaction just from being in support of the raiding community, helping out where I can. And who knows, if circumstances change and I can begin to raid again I'd like to be already in an environment with such a positive attitude to it. The social component of the game is very important to me, and is what I've most been missing since switching Fallow back on - and as my partner (Jast) is also looking to join you it would be important to me to be in a guild with him.

How will you improve yourself as a Highland Warrior?
I think in the same ways I tend to improve myself in any respect - by looking for opportunities to learn new things and as appropriate share my own knowledge and experience with others; by offering what I can to the people around me and by trying new things.

Anything extra you would like to tell us about yourself?

So as I just noted, I'm Jast's partner, and a great deal of his background applies to me too. I started out playing WoW shortly after the EU launch, despite the fact that I didn't then, and still don't, think of myself as a computer game player. WoW hooked me unlike any other game before or since.

For the end of 2007 onwards, I was spending more and more time working in the US, leading eventually to us moving there. Some of my existing US friends also played WoW and introduced us to their mega-guild, alea iacta est, which led us to join that guild during the pre-move preparation. Once there, WoW became 'the thing we did for fun' and 'the thing we did with our mates across the US'. We both became very active in the guild, which was thousands of characters big, and made a number of hopefully lifelong friends, several of whom became part of the raid team which successfully worked through Northrend.

The move back to the UK coincided to a certain extent with a fading of my interest in the game - I blame Cataclysm - so I took a break for a while. We both went back, working on the US servers from the UK, just ahead of Pandaria and working again with the same group of friends, with whom we levelled our own social guild to 25 while levelling ourselves through Pandaria. I miss playing with that group to this day, but between the time difference and multiple demands on all our time, it became less and less practical to do so.

I more or less decided that my WoW time was over as I stepped away from the US servers again, but at the end of last year the itch started up again and I reactivated the EU account, levelled Fallow from 70 to 90 and started a new monk, having seriously enjoyed Monk tanking in the US.

So now I'm back and hooked again, looking to add the social dimension back into my gaming experience.

Hi Fallow,

Another fantastic app, you and you partner deserve gold stars for these app!

I see you do not have any alts at high level and the only other alt that you do have you have mentioned you are happy to being over.

The only other question I have is that is there a likely hood of you going back to the US severs? As you mention wow's social aspect is actually a huge part that keep many of is in game, so am wondering if the lure of the US social side might ever tempt you back?

The short answer is that unless by some weird quirk we ended up living in the US again, I can't see a circumstance in which I'd go back to the US realms.

To expand slightly, I have other channels for keeping in touch with that group of friends, some of whom don't even regularly play any longer, and when the goal is sociability, regularly logging in on a European schedule and finding not only no one from the guild on but the world itself underpopulated doesn't really deliver.

Hope that answers the question. Please let me know if there's anything else I can clarify.

Ok that's great. To be honest I don't really have much else to add your app is so full of detail that you answer a lot already :)

If you would like to make an alt on Thunderhorn both yourself and Jast if we can do it in a group together and have chat just go over anything else, I am raiding tonight from 9pm till 11.30pm server time so if you can catch me before or after that would be perfect if not we can chat later in the week

Hi there.

Just to confirm further to the chat last night that Jast and I have both moved over to Thunderhorn. As I had to name change due to the existing Fallow here, I'm now Andaman. It's a type of owl :-)
