Play Style

What sort of position would suit you best in terms of what you are looking for from a guild (delete as appropriate)

Social/Backup Raider: I am willing to spot fill when needed, but I understand a place is not guaranteed

Which of the following days each week are you available? Please see the top post for details of our current raid days.

Monday 21:00 CET until 00:00
Tuesday 21:00 CET until 00:00
Wednesday 21:00 CET until 00:00
Thursday 21:00 CET until 00:00
Friday 21:00 CET until 00:00
Saturday 20:30 CET until 00:00
Sunday 20:30 CET until 00:00

Why did you chose your current spec?

To be honest, as a complete noob i just loved the look of the Priests Shadowform, and couldn't wait to get to ( i think then it was level 29) to get it. Even though it had mana issues to start with (was quite annoying to have to take a mana drink after every decent fight), these were resolved at the higher levels, with Hymn of Hope and Dispersion. Since then i've played a Frost Mage, an Elemental Shaman and a Balance Druid ( i love my spellcasters), but find the Shadow Priest suits my playstyle, with its good DPS and good survivability

Tell us a little about your spell/shot/melee rotation & general play style in a raid/dungeon/group situation. (You may link stats websites such as WoL in support of your application)

My objective in a raid/dungeon/group situation is to get the highest DPS that i can possibly get, whilst at the same time keeping myself alive. I do not rely on healers to heal me, and would rather the healers keep the Tank alive ( i once read 'If the tank dies it's the healers fault, if the healer dies it's the tanks fault, and if the dps die it's there own fault for not learning how to bandage themselves'). Not sure about the first 2 parts of that as i don't play a tank or healer, but i agree with the last part about the dps, and always have as much to hand as possible to keep myself alive.
From a rotation point of view, my priorities are to keep Shadow Word: Pain, Vampiric Touch and Devouring Plague (when available) running on the target, Mind Blast when available to generate Shadow Orbs, Shadow Word: Death when target is below 20% health and to also generate Shadow Orbs, Mindbender when available for the extra dps boost and extra mana regeneration, and Mind Sear on multi-target. Halo i find is very good (for both its damage and its heals) but it has to be used with caution, as its quite easy to aggro mobs that we aren't actually fighting. I'm more than happy to throw out the occasional Power Word: Shield, Renew, Flash Heal or even Void Shift if i can see someone is struggling, Vampiric Embrace i use when appropriate, and if i'm pulling too much aggro then Fade is an awesome little spell =))

Choose THREE of the following which best describes your priorities for the expansion. Delete those which do NOT apply

- Looking for group instances
- Levelling professions to max
- Levelling existing alts

Which of your achievements in WoW are you the most proud of, and why? *This does not have to be a recognised Blizzard acheivement - it could just be the slog of levelling from 1 - 85, or looting an item you have farmed for a long time*

Crazy as this might seem, my 'of the Shattered Sun' title is the one i'm most proud of. Would be easy now at level 90 to go back and get it, but at the time (level 70) it was a real grind, and having to pay the 1000g at the end of it nearly made me cry =((

Other Stuff

Do you know an existing member of the Highland Warriors? If so, who: for how long, and how do you know them?

No, though i have spoken to Cephalopod a couple of times, was admiring his gear and talking about Shadow Priest stats and things

Why do you want to join the Highland Warriors?

I would like to join Highland Warriors because it seems to be a guild that is active, friendly, loyal, has a good player base and good community. All the things i am looking for in a guild. I am very fussy about which guild i join, and do a lot of guild research, looking at guild achievements etc, trying to work out whether a guild i'm researching would suit me or not. I recently pulled my Druid out of Vulgus Profanum after it came up in chat (************ has joined the guild), and it was the rudest name i'd ever seen in the game!!

How will you improve yourself as a Highland Warrior?

I'm a person who likes to help people, and i can certainly be more helpful in an active guild with an active player base than the one i'm in now (9pm on a Saturday night i find i'm the only player online out of over 750!!)

Anything extra you would like to tell us about yourself?

I have a wicked sense of humour, as does my crazy Irish wife, and we both love World of Warcraft. We were first introduced to it in 2008 by my wifes brother who lives in Florida, and played on the US servers for over 2 years. But once we'd got used to the game and quite good at it, with both of us having 6 level 85's, we found we were restricted in what we could do from an end-game point of view, because of the time difference. US servers are about 6 hours behind EU servers, so if a guild was raiding from 20:00-23:00, that would be 02:00-05:00 for us, and with both of us working full time, it just became impossible. So, hard as it was, we left the US servers and started fresh on the EU servers. Wasn't that hard to be honest, because we already knew which races/classes of characters we were going to play, we knew most of the quests, most of the dungeons, and knew how to make money fairly quickly too.
On a personal note, my name is Tony Underwood, i'm 51, and have worked as a truck driver since the age of 22. After completing a 4-year apprenticeship as a truck mechanic, i found driving trucks more enjoyable than working on them, so that's what i went on to do, and still enjoy it mostly.
I am a very loyal person, both in real life and in my World of Warcraft life. I am honest, friendly and helpful, and sometimes even extremely funny =))
I hope this application finds all of your players in good health, and if the application isn't successful, then thank you for taking the time to read it.
All the best,

Tony Underwood (Preestitute and others)

Hello there, Preestitute, thank you for your application :)

Before we begin, you mention your wife plays Warcraft also, so will she be applying too and, if so, would you wish to be considered jointly? :)

Hi there, my wife is away at the moment doing 2 weeks training for work, but i've just spoken to her and she says that she couldn't give me an answer straight away. She has 4 level 90's and an 85 in The Silver Claw, and says she would have to have a serious think as to whether she would want to pull all of her characters out of that guild. So in answer to your question whether we would like a joint application, unfortunately at the moment the answer has to be no

Okies, no worries. I feel your wife's pain - two week training course, nasty.

Would you mind terribly if I respond properly to your application tomorrow (Monday), please? I seem to have scratched my cornea and the lack of depth perception is hampering my typing (huzzah for iPhone auto correct tho) ;)

no need for a sad face though, single or joint, doesnt really matter. Just if it is joint, its best for us to process both, as one, and so wait for hers.

Hi there again, and thanks for your quick replies. There's really no hurry, i understand from your website that it can take a week or more to get an answer, i'm very patient and not one to hassle people, so please take your time and get your eye better (scratched cornea sounds awful, like having sand in your eye i'll bet, ouch!!)

I can see \o/ It's even worth enduring stinging eyedrops for, which I have not had since I was a kid. Still takes about 5 goes to get it in tho... ;)

Anyho, enough about me...

I see you've been in The Silver Claw with Preestitute for pretty much the whole of his existance, but you do have alts in other guilds... May I ask why this is - spreading the love, experiencing different guild styles, or are they personal guilds for the bank storage?

recently pulled my Druid out of Vulgus Profanum after it came up in chat (************ has joined the guild), and it was the rudest name i'd ever seen in the game!!

Hehe, I can identify with this... A while back we had a player apply with the suffix of "clunge" in his name (fans of the Inbetweeners will know this word well), but part of the conditions of his trial was that he name changed. We take our guild reputation seriously, and although a "bit of blue" (although less Bernard Manning, more housewives fave Ant & Dec :) ) banter isn't unknown in guild chat, we like to at least try to offer a presentable face to the rest of the world ;)

You're applying as a social/backup raider. In terms of raiding, how serious are you about spot filling? There's no wrong or right answer here, but in the past we've had people join as this, but have preferred a more social role, which is fine but it's good to know for the raiding pool if you have serious intentions of signing up when you're ready/willing/available :)

Re: Preestitute level 90 Human Shadow Priest, Social

Postby Preestitute » 22 Apr 2013, 23:51

Hi there, I was taking a look at a couple of other guilds with a couple of lower level characters. I've not been impressed with what i've seen (players joining then leaving an hour later etc). I'm more than happy to have all of my characters in the one guild, if the guild is good enough, and until I find that guild I figured these couple of characters can just stay where they are, and the couple of characters I have that are unguilded, can remain unguilded.
From a raiding point of view, I definitely want to raid and am thinking now maybe I should have selected 'Rotation', instead of 'Social/Backup'. The only thing that made me select 'Social/Backup' is that sometimes I work some odd hours, and don't like to let people down. But if i'm online, and you need someone, then i'm definitely available, if my gear is good enough.
Hope your eye is on the mend :)
